In June 2026, I moderated a panel discussion for Avid Learning‘s Icons of Mumbai live series.
For the seventh episode of this series, the focus was on the legacy of neighbourhood photo studios including Indian Art Studio and Hamilton Studios, iconic film studios like Bombay Talkies and RK Studios, and long-standing music establishments such as Rhythm House and Maharashtra Gramophone.
It was an absolute pleasure to hear the stories and perspectives, and witness the passion each speaker brought: Suresh Bhojwani, a musician since the sixties with a wonderful old beat-band story and now relaunching Blue Frog; Amrit Gangar, a deeply respected film historian; and Apoorva Guptay, a brilliant street and editorial photographer.
